Position Overview:      

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a strategic partner to assigned business leaders, supporting organizational performance through the delivery of commercially focused, pragmatic HR solutions. The role works closely with senior leaders and HR Centers of Excellence (Talent Development, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, and HR Operations) to shape and deliver people strategies that enable business objectives, drive organizational effectiveness, and enhance employee experience.

Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the business, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to influence leaders at multiple levels. The HRBP acts as a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance and practical solutions across the full employee lifecycle while ensuring effective risk management and alignment with employment legislation and best practice.

Through effective partnership with leaders, the HRBP translates business priorities into actionable people initiatives that strengthen capability, engagement, and organizational performance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary purpose of this role is to partner with business leaders to drive effective people strategies while providing expert advice and guidance across a broad range of HR matters. The HRBP delivers commercially aligned, pragmatic people solutions that support business growth, operational effectiveness, and a positive employee experience.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with senior leaders to align people strategies with business objectives, workforce planning needs, and organizational priorities.
  • Leading complex employee relations matters, providing balanced, commercially aware guidance that effectively manages risk while ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Advising leaders on employment legislation and best practices, proactively mitigating risk and supporting sound decision-making.
  • Coaching and supporting managers in areas including performance management, employee engagement, conflict resolution, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Leading or supporting organizational change initiatives, including restructures, organizational design, and change management efforts.
  • Partnering with leaders to deliver annual and cyclical talent processes, including Talent Reviews and 9-box assessments, providing insight, challenge, and calibration to support strong talent decisions.
  • Translating talent review outcomes into actionable development, retention, and succession strategies aligned with business priorities.
  • Supporting identification of critical roles, high-potential talent, and key capability gaps, and partnering with Talent Development to address development and succession needs.
  • Supporting annual compensation review processes, including salary and bonus planning, providing guidance to ensure alignment with performance and market practices.
  • Interpreting HR data and insights (e.g., exit interviews, engagement data, workforce metrics) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and contributing to data-informed recommendations.
  • Partnering with HR functional teams to implement HR programs, policies, and initiatives that enhance organizational capability and operational effectiveness.
  • Supporting the ongoing implementation and optimization of the HRIS (Workday), driving adoption of manager and employee self-service tools.
  • Contributing to HR projects, process improvements, and broader HR initiatives that strengthen the overall HR function.

Qualifications and Experience:

You will be comfortable operating both strategically and operationally, balancing hands-on support with broader organizational perspective. You will communicate confidently and credibly with senior leaders, directors, and employees, and proactively identify opportunities to strengthen people practices and organizational effectiveness.

 

You will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
  • 7+ years of HRBP experience required.
  • Insurance, reinsurance, or finance industry experience required.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders to deliver people strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and its practical application within a commercial environment.
  • Significant experience managing complex employee relations matters, including investigations, performance management, disciplinary processes, absence management, and terminations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience supporting organizational change, talent management, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM) preferred but not required.
